Meta Hackathon
Meta Hackathon
The Brief
D&F Creative were tasked with creating a truly diverse, equitable and inclusive global Hackathon for Metamates. In collaboration with Meta London, we set out to create a space that contributed towards Meta’s core values and mission; developing an inclusive environment to inspire innovation, bring bold new ideas to life and to encourage teamwork across the business between Metamates.
The Vision
Inspired by The Legend of Zelda, our ‘Game On’ Hackathon championed inclusivity and highlighted great women leaders. Unlike traditional Hackathons which celebrate individual achievement, our 'Game On' Hack encouraged collaborative success, a mode preferred by many women.
The Event: The Hackathon also featured a range of offline games and activities to encourage wider participation from Metamates from all areas of the business including:
Cerebral games such as table-top board games, mindful colouring books, model painting and terrarium making. Physical challenges such as faux axe-throwing, t-shirt printing and puzzle solving. Anxiety reducing activities such as hand massages, ASMR stations and sensory spaces.
The Results
Our 'Game on' Hackathon drew in an unprecedented number of participants, receiving acclaim from internal employees and the wider corporate events industry.
79%
79% of employees are most excited to get back to events for the opportunity to meet other colleagues and build meaningful relationships in real life.
Meta x D&F Creative’s 'Game On' Hackathon won the award for ‘Best DE&I’ at the Micebook Awards 2024, a true testament to the ingenuity and impact of our inclusive approach to employee engagement.
The 'Game On' Hackathon cemented Meta London’s position as the #1 site for employee engagement, with 120 participants.
